BROCTON HALL GOLF CLUB

Three off the Tee - 11th March '25 Newsletter

Hello there

Scotland's Calum Hill claimed his second DP World Tour title in style as he beat home favourites Jacques Kruyswijk and Shaun Norris in a play-off to win the Joburg Open after coming from eight shots back to earn a share of the lead after 72 holes. Now we need Pretoria born, Duhan Van Der Merwe to help Scotland annihilate France in Saturday's Six Nations. 🙂

The Social Committee is planning summer entertainment and has booked the ABBA Twins for 9th August, with the Dirty Rockin' Scoundrels returning in October. They're deciding between hosting a casual BBQ or a more formal Summer Ball and are asking for feedback on which option members would prefer. Let them know your choice!

The “Live Draw” of the Junior Knock Out took place on Sunday morning in the Clubhouse .

Thank you to President Roger Edwards and Lady President Mary Robertson for supporting the Juniors and the event. Our Junior Captain Taryn Davis and Vice Captain Ben Foulner did the draw.

We wish all our Juniors taking part the best of luck in this year’s Tournament. Thank you to our amazing Junior Organiser Nicki Bowen and Jo Mears for organising the event .

Members Question

You are invited to send any questions in that you would like one of the Management Committee members to answer. Often a committee member is approached on the putting green with a question that might not relate to their area of knowledge. This is a way for you to ask those questions.

Hole in One

John was walking his dog along the bridle path and stopped to watch a woman teeing off the 14th. She took out her driver and took a wild swing at the ball, hooking it violently way out of bounds nearly hitting him. She put another ball down and made a far more controlled swing, sending it beautifully, straight down the fairway. John then walked alongside the fairway and stopped to watch her approach to the green. She took out a wedge - surely not nearly enough club with 175 yards left. She gave it everything but, as expected, the ball came up well short of the green. She pitched on nicely to 10 feet or so then raced her putt six feet by before calmly holing the return.

“Sorry, I must ask,” John said. “You played that hole rather strangely and I was wondering why?” “Just practising for the mixed foursomes.” She replied. 🙂

Happy golfing everyone,

Karen
