“Golf is the closest game to the game we call life. You get bad breaks from good shots; you get good breaks from bad shots -- but you have to play the ball where it lies.” - Bobby Jones

BROCTON HALL GOLF CLUB
Three off the Tee - 14 January 2025 Newsletter
Hello there
Wishing everyone a joyful and successful 2025 filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable moments.
After a couple of weeks away (cruise and then some time in Barcelona), the EGM and a two day workshop in Coventry, the newsletter is back. Thank you again to the many members who give me great feedback on the newsletters and enjoy reading them.
For all our Baggies and Potters and fans, Peter Odemwingie who scored scored 61 top-flight goals across three clubs, Stoke City, West Bromwich Albion and Cardiff City in his days as a forward has now become a member of the PGA. "The magic of golf brought us together. The camaraderie grew a lot in the dressing room," he says of his time with the Potters. Peter hopes he can use his influence to convince the state governments in Nigeria, to invest in the sport, while budding on the dream of leading Nigeria to a gold medal in the Olympics.
Congratulations to our December Lottery winners:
- 1st prize of £100.00 is Roger Ingram
- 2nd prize of £40.00 is Gordon Nicholson
- 3rd prize of £20.00 is David Moodie

Members Question
You are invited to send any questions in that you would like one of the Management Committee members to answer. Often a committee member is approached on the putting green with a question that might not relate to their area of knowledge. This is a way for you to ask those questions.
Q. With the AGM on the horizon at the end of this month and the next Vice Captain to be announced then I wondered if any progress has been made with a revised selection process for this important role or are we going to continue with the previous situation of what has, over recent years, been an appointment made based on the ‘old pals act’.
Myself and many other members are keen to know what the committee is proposing.
